La Ceiba has a new and the biggest Estate Hospital for the whole North Atlantic region. Among the private Hospitals we have Medicentro, Hospital EuroHonduras, La Fe and Hospital Vicente Dantoni that was founded and ran by Standard Fruit Company, a branch of Dole over 100 years ago. La Ceiba has a reputation of having the best and cheapest Hospitals in North East of Honduras and most of them have bilingual doctors. There are also a few missionary Doctors that work here and some hospitals like the Loma de Luz, ran the by cornerstone foundation in Balfate, a small fishing village east of La Ceiba.
